Smyrna has a lot of fun events going on in the months of February and March! The schedule includes clubs such as an adult workshop for backyard birding to an infant and toddler story time.
In February, there will also be a lot of fun events for children of all ages, as well as adults, to take part in. On February 4th at 7:00 pm, there will be another meeting of the Book Club: Friends Reading Group. The event will take place in the Smyrna Public Library, where they will discuss Howard’s End by E.M. Daddy Daughter Dances will be held from February 7-13 at 5:30 pm! Each day has a different theme, so be sure to check the Smyrna website in order to coordinate your outfits with the colors of the day. Registration for these events opens on January 6th, 2025.
On February 15th, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, a Galentine’s Day Brunch will be held at the Smyrna Community Center. This event is targeted at women ages 12+, and there will be a fee of $45 per person in attendance. They will be serving mocktails and cocktails, there will be a waffle station and a cupcake decorating station, and there will even be trivia and music to dance to! Come to this event dressed nicely and ready to have fun with your gal pals.
Starting on February 17th and lasting until February 23rd, there will be a Famous African Americans Scavenger Hunt for kids lasting all day on each date listed. Children 2-10 years old may collect a checklist at the Smyrna Public Library during library hours. They will then explore the library’s Juvenile and Picture books section to find hidden pictures of famous African Americans and learn about their impacts on history! Once your child marks off all the pictures, have them turn in their checklist to a library staff member to earn a prize.
The last event of February will be a Black History Month Celebration Dinner held at the Smyrna Community Center Big Gym from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The guest of honor for the event, playwright Kelundra Smith, and the cast of The Wash will present key scenes from this new play highlighting local Smyrna history! Tickets for The Wash, a homegrown play inspired by the Atlanta Washerwoman’s Strike of 1881, will go on sale Monday, January 13th, for $20 per seat.
March has some pretty fun events coming up as well! Starting on March 4th, the Book Club: Friends Reading Group will be meeting from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Smyrna Public Library. On March 8th at 10:00 am, the KID-CON 2025 Literature and Pop Culture Festival will begin. The event will be situated in the Smyrna Community Center, and it is free admission to those of all ages who are interested in the topic. The event will be accompanied by crafts, character appearances, games, and an overall great time for the entire family! The event will conclude at 1:00 pm.
Smyrna’s very own Mother Son Nerf Wars event will be held on March 14th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The event will be held at the Smyrna Community Center, and the dress theme will be 80’s Throwback! The event is targeted towards boys 5-12 years old, and the cost is $60 per couple, with a charge of an extra $15 for any extra siblings in attendance. Registration for the event opened on January 6th, so make sure to claim your spot right away and spend a fun evening with your son.
The event on March 21st marks a special occasion in the calendars of Smyrna parents! From 5:00 to 8:00 pm, drop off your potty-trained children ages 4-12 at the Smyrna Community Center for an old school movie night with popcorn and pizza. This event gives parents a much-deserved break and an opportunity to go out for the night. The price of the event is $30 per child, and children are highly encouraged to attend in their pajamas! Registration for the event opened on January 27th.
